Artist Rico @
Monster’s Ink
Where did you learn to tattoo?
My family tattoo
origins started with my grandma. She and her twin sister were into
Rico with Zombie Michael Koske |
the tattoo scene back then. (Rico’s grandma even has her
knuckles tattooed.) My father is a strong tattoo artist and many of my cousins and uncles
are also tattoo artist.Chicano art and culture heavily influenced my style.
Many of Rico’s tattoo
collection is from his family members. He has a very extensive collection of fine gradient black and grey tattoos.
What would you consider your style?
My style is very
versatile. I learned with single needle black and grey. I prefer fine line black and grey but I do color and traditional. I love doing
portraits. I get to memorialize a loved one or immortalize someone’s children
permanently on the skin is rewarding. I like seeing images come to life and how happy
the client is. It is very rewarding.
When did you come to Florida ?
I am new to this area
from California .
I came here in January of this
year. I enjoy meeting new artist and the clients. On my down time I spend
time sketching and drawing but mostly I spend time with my children. I try to
balance my family life with my art work.
