Darrell Goza on Korey Rochon

Korey Rochon who is still out there in the wind, plotting his schemes to take money from hardworking creators, he threw around plenty of names in an attempt to look like he has moral support from plenty of established creators. One of these creators was the awesome Darrell Goza. He acted like both Darrell and he were friends.

I've known Darrell over the years from his online work and sharing plenty of his things over the years and admiring him from afar, he has worked with various publishers and he is a peer I totally respect.

He does great things for the youth in the country, and he always has a very honest opinion on plenty of matters.

Darrell Goza, "My take on it is that The Core and the proposed 'The United' are indeed scams. All the people mentioned as 'founders' of his Ascension Comics were producers on their own that he talked into contributing to The Core but they were never ‘founders’ as stated by The Core’s actual creator, much like what's being done with this new grift: 'The United.' Funny thing is that grifters never change their grift. The just try to perfect it but at the end of the day it's still just a scam. I'd suggest anyone that comes across Korey/Michael/whoever he is, give him a wide birth and leave him to his own devices or chances are you will wish you had never gotten involved. Based on people he mentioned as having 'good working relations with him' almost all have all stated that it wasn't good and they wouldn't work with him in the future (save one). Most have unfriended him and during the course of their ‘relationship’ one even filed a lawsuit against him. He stated as much in his ‘apology’ but forgot to mention it was one of his ‘founders.’ It’s this kind of crafty speaking that says a lot about the 'apology' writer. Seems the working relationships with him were filled with a lot of negativity and the so called ‘founders’ (as stated in Korey/Michael’s ‘apology’) have moved on. My assessment is to not get involved with him, any project he's proposing and to not befriend him. I've gone as far as to block him so he can never even bring any of his nonsense my way. I'd suggest, based on the evidence that everyone else do the same. From what I understand he still uses my name in his 'apology' as if we're working together, which we aren't. I've even asked him to remove me from it which he's yet to do. Another indicator of his shady character. If anyone would like to see the text of my investigation concerning this whole thing you need only PM me with your email address (non FB email address) and I'll send it to you. It's good reading of how a scam is constructed and executed."

So there you go another person telling you, BEWARE!!

The Korey Rochon factor!

The last few days there has been heated conversation about Korey Rochon, and his alias Michael Stevenson. Yet don't you know if you go to Facebook and type in his name you get several Korey Rochon's at once, you will note that he has four other Korey accounts set-up. I'm not lying go to FB and type in his name and they will show up in the window. So before you believe him to be some inexperienced kid trying to learn the ropes. Please look this up and you learn about the beasts nature. If anything else, remember Jake Estrada warned you.

Updated on the Korey Rochon front

Recently I've been reporting about Korey Rochon and his several attempts to run a scam. He has recently claimed he has not run a con game. You decide if you believe him or not! Here is what he said.

THE FULL CORE STATEMENT: To the comic book realm, My name is Korey Rochon, I am the former C.E.O of Ascendant Comics. I am the creator of The Core Comic Con. A few weeks ago a blog was created under the suspicion that I was a scam artist stealing the titles of Independent Owners and creators. I was also accused by a former business partner and "friend" of being a thief. I had no idea what was going on for 4 weeks, and I did not take it well. My friend of 7 years betrayed me, and left me in the dark and most of you who asked me questions where caught in the after effects. I changed my name on facebook, in hopes to stop the hate mail that I was receiving, but I made things worst. I have compiled a short series of evidence and after reading, you the public can cast your judgement. I created The Core Comic Con, for independent comic book creators, and featured Roosevelt Pitt, Joy DeCapua, Chuck Amadori and many more. It was held every 2 weeks. I was accused of stealing money from these creators, when in fact I lost over 150 dollars supporting them for this cause. As you all know, (check and see) Paypal holds documents of all payments on their site. I have download that list to be seen by the public. For 2 weeks straight only 3 people made purchases myself, Krystal MewPuff, and Chuck Amadori. Everyone was paid their money with the exception of one person Kirt Mohan, who was left forgotten not because of greed, but because of this entire situation. Veronica Wagner and myself have both contacted him and are waiting his response to pay him. I was paying for these comics and giving them to free viewers who came to the site in hopes to build them up, I never had any intention of selling them without the consent of the owners permission. The Core was shut down due to a lawsuit that was going to be filed against me, not my team. No one was legally bound to the core but me, so my team knew nothing about it shutting down until I told them. I made mistakes and took responsible for a team decision we made, and the consequences to that were shutting down the entire site. On my facebook page I wrote a massive letter to the creators and companies involved that the core would be shutting down, but I would be back with a bigger and better idea. Each and every time there was a purchase made on my site I emailed, and informed that person of that sale, and sent out a forum of all posted sales as you see. The dropbox that held all the files for these creators and companies was instantly deleted. I spent my own personal money on facebook ads and promos for everyone involved with the core. From this idea transpired another, The United Comic Book company. A company that would bring together all of us under one roof. I started looking for owners to join together and band with me, I ask for 100.00 as a requirement so that once we were fully completed we could get our legal paperwork completed instantly. I spoke with Darrell Goza, Lonnie Lowe Jr.,Roosevelt Pitt, Chandar Wilson, Anderson Neph Richardson over the phone about this matter and they can tell you that not once did the words "I need the money upfront" come out of my mouth. I want to bring us all under one brand and work together. Again, I will admit the way I handled this situation was childish, boyish and immature. Changing my name might have put you all uneased about me. But all I can do is apologize. This is my statement about The Core and it's allegations.

COMIC CREATORS BEWARE OF SCAM ARTIST!

The last time I reported that Korey Rochon was running an online comic-con, but each time people would ask the creator of this event a question he would get very defensive and he would block them. I reported about this earlier here:  THE CORE SCAM

Well recently there has been a rash of people expressing their discontent with Korey, about previous so called “huge ideas” he had.

Korey Rochon or is it Michael Stevenson? Do we know?
For instance he was once a publisher to a comic company called Ascendant Comics, and people have come out claiming he has stolen other people’s properties. Furthermore there has been a questionable contract brought forth from a previous person who was approached by Korey’s group.

Finally I have read through dozen of screenshots sent in by other creators who had conversations with Korey. As I read over the screenshots people were asking Korey who was asking for a 100 dollars from ten creators to gain a thousand dollars to form a new publishing company to rival Marvel and DC comics.

See the moment I read he was asking for other creators to contribute a $100 dollars to form this company it screamed SCAM! Another thing that came to me was Korey Rochon insane and he thought that these other creators he was proposing this insane idea too were that gullible to throw money away at a crapshoot that makes no sense.

Finally most people know that a thousand dollars isn’t going to put a dent into Marvel and DC’s market share. Look to print a thousand comics, it will cost a person roughly $1,300 to $3,000 dollars depending where you go to get your comic printed. You aren’t even going break event when it is done being printed and I don’t believe Korey is that stupid to believe that a thousand dollars is going to rival the big two.

That proposal he threw out to these creators screamed rip-off and he knew it, which is why when people questioned him about his wishy-washy tactics he got very defensive, he called these people clowns. Yes he called potential investors clowns, he spoke down to them, and he would block these creators.

Finally when he reached out to me he started to use an alias called Michael Stevenson, then he blocked or he deactivate that account so I was unable to talk with him. Also, when he did email me he wanted to call me because he didn’t want to do it over email he wanted to call me. I know a few other creators have recently spoken with him over the phone and he got very defensive with them in the process.

So my only suggestion to most people, beware of Korey Rochon/Michael Stevenson.

BEWARE POSSIBLE ONLINE COMIC CON SCAM

The Core started by Korey Rochon.

Originally I reported about this new Online Comic Con run by Korey Rochon, was running a new style online comic con that was going to run every other week starting in the end of May. Well plans have fallen through apparently, as the creator was slowly gathering PDF’s from several creators, and he would not explain how he was going to reimburse payment to several creators. Furthermore, he kept changing his tune on what he was exactly doing.

When pressed further by many other comic creators he would turn around and block these creators without trying to explain his motivations.

The event seemed like a promising try to get independent creators names out there.

It’s being reported as well that Korey Rochon started to demand further work from creators, telling them he required more work from them and when people would question he offered little explanation.

When I looked into his website that housed several of the creator’s works, the main website was taken down and he claimed that he was pushing the con back to another date. Meanwhile he gathered many PDF’s from several people who submitted entire books to this online con. I would suggest people that submitted work to this guy, be on the look out as this maybe a fishing ruse where Korey can be gathering other creators work, and using it for his own personal gain by saying he created all these works to get more money from other people. Over the last few years there have been several similar scams where people use another creator’s work as their own, so I suggest everyone to stand vigil and be on the look out.

If anyone has anymore info about Korey Rochon, please share it here with me. I’d love to talk.

Channing Tatum is Gambit?

By now you have heard the news that Channing Tatum will be the second actor to play Gambit in a live action film in some upcoming X-Men film. The first actor was Taylor Kitsch, but he's being replaced.

What are your thoughts?

For me it means little next to nothing. Actors get recast all the time, and the last time Kitsch was nothing special in Wolverine Origins film. So Tatum could be a great addition or he could be just as bland. Ultimately the fans will decide with their dollars.

Lady Byrd talks with Rico

Artist Rico @ Monster’s Ink

Where did you learn to tattoo?

My family tattoo origins started with my grandma. She and her twin sister were into
Rico with Zombie Michael Koske
the tattoo scene back then. (Rico’s grandma even has her knuckles tattooed.) My father is a strong tattoo artist and many of my cousins and uncles are also tattoo artist.Chicano art and culture heavily influenced my style.

Many of Rico’s tattoo collection is from his family members. He has a very extensive collection of fine gradient black and grey tattoos.

What would you consider your style?

My style is very versatile. I learned with single needle black and grey. I prefer fine line black and grey but I do color and traditional. I love doing portraits. I get to memorialize a loved one or immortalize someone’s children permanently on the skin is rewarding. I like seeing images come to life and how happy the client is. It is very rewarding.

When did you come to Florida?

I am new to this area from California. I came here in January of this
year. I enjoy meeting new artist and the clients. On my down time I spend time sketching and drawing but mostly I spend time with my children. I try to balance my family life with my art work.

RIP Dick Ayers

Another legend has passed. I say we give Mr. Ayers a ten rocket salute as another legend of comicdom has passed. I enjoyed his work, and his work ethic. You will never be forgotten Dick Ayers, you were a true legend and a master.

Richard "Dick" Ayers (April 28, 1924 – May 4, 2014) was an American comic book artist and cartoonist best known for his work as one of Jack Kirby's inkers during the late 1950s and 1960s  area more specifically know as the Silver Age, he inked some of the earlier issues of The Fantastic Four. He was the signature penciler of Marvel's World War II comic Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, drawing it for a 10 year run, and he co-created Magazine Enterprises' 1950s Western-horror character the Ghost Rider, a version of which he would draw for Marvel in the 1960s.

Ayers was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2007.

COMING SOON: THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN

This is a movie I'm looking forward to seeing very soon in the near future when it is finally released. I loved the original classic horror film, now I just wonder what will the remake be like? Will it be a carbon copy or complete garbage? What do you think?

Here's what the synopsis reads, " 65 years after a masked serial killer terrorized the small town of Texarkana, the so-called 'moonlight murders' begin again. Is it a copycat or something even more sinister? A lonely high school girl, with dark secrets of her own, may be the key to catching him."

MOVIE TO CHECK OUT: Snowpiercer

Now here is a film, that has all the sci-fi elements. A non-stop train that goes round and round the earth for decades. If you watch this film, you will see the varying social class that rides this non-stop train. I will say this film should be considered a modern classic. I truly enjoyed it. Sci-fi at its best truly. The story revolves about a ban of people lead by Chris Evan's character Curtis, his primary goal is to control the train and he will do everything in his might to reach the front of the train.

The synopsis reads: "In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off all life on the planet except for a lucky few that boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system evolves."

I must tell you people have to see this film. It is a classic tale of the haves and the haves nots, and its an amazing journey.  Please check it out.

I give this movie FOUR SPACE ROCKETS outta FIVE.

Enjoy!

MOVIE TO CHECK OUT: Grand Piano

You like a taunt thrillers? Maybe you should check out Grand Piano. To some this may feel like a by the numbers story, but I felt the film had enough mystery and tension to keep my interest.

The synopsis of the story goes, " Moments before Tom Selznick’s comeback performance, a concert pianist who suffers from stage fright discovers a note written on his music sheet."

The film stars John Cusack, Elijah Wood and rare appearance of Alex Winter.

Check out the trailer right here:

Enjoy!
