Updated on the Korey Rochon front
Recently I've been reporting about Korey Rochon and his several attempts to run a scam. He has recently claimed he has not run a con game. You decide if you believe him or not! Here is what he said.
THE FULL CORE STATEMENT: To the comic book realm, My name is Korey Rochon, I am the former C.E.O of Ascendant Comics. I am the creator of The Core Comic Con. A few weeks ago a blog was created under the suspicion that I was a scam artist stealing the titles of Independent Owners and creators. I was also accused by a former business partner and "friend" of being a thief. I had no idea what was going on for 4 weeks, and I did not take it well. My friend of 7 years betrayed me, and left me in the dark and most of you who asked me questions where caught in the after effects. I changed my name on facebook, in hopes to stop the hate mail that I was receiving, but I made things worst. I have compiled a short series of evidence and after reading, you the public can cast your judgement. I created The Core Comic Con, for independent comic book creators, and featured Roosevelt Pitt, Joy DeCapua, Chuck Amadori and many more. It was held every 2 weeks. I was accused of stealing money from these creators, when in fact I lost over 150 dollars supporting them for this cause. As you all know, (check and see) Paypal holds documents of all payments on their site. I have download that list to be seen by the public. For 2 weeks straight only 3 people made purchases myself, Krystal MewPuff, and Chuck Amadori. Everyone was paid their money with the exception of one person Kirt Mohan, who was left forgotten not because of greed, but because of this entire situation. Veronica Wagner and myself have both contacted him and are waiting his response to pay him. I was paying for these comics and giving them to free viewers who came to the site in hopes to build them up, I never had any intention of selling them without the consent of the owners permission. The Core was shut down due to a lawsuit that was going to be filed against me, not my team. No one was legally bound to the core but me, so my team knew nothing about it shutting down until I told them. I made mistakes and took responsible for a team decision we made, and the consequences to that were shutting down the entire site. On my facebook page I wrote a massive letter to the creators and companies involved that the core would be shutting down, but I would be back with a bigger and better idea. Each and every time there was a purchase made on my site I emailed, and informed that person of that sale, and sent out a forum of all posted sales as you see. The dropbox that held all the files for these creators and companies was instantly deleted. I spent my own personal money on facebook ads and promos for everyone involved with the core. From this idea transpired another, The United Comic Book company. A company that would bring together all of us under one roof. I started looking for owners to join together and band with me, I ask for 100.00 as a requirement so that once we were fully completed we could get our legal paperwork completed instantly. I spoke with Darrell Goza, Lonnie Lowe Jr.,Roosevelt Pitt, Chandar Wilson, Anderson Neph Richardson over the phone about this matter and they can tell you that not once did the words "I need the money upfront" come out of my mouth. I want to bring us all under one brand and work together. Again, I will admit the way I handled this situation was childish, boyish and immature. Changing my name might have put you all uneased about me. But all I can do is apologize. This is my statement about The Core and it's allegations.

COMIC CREATORS BEWARE OF SCAM ARTIST!
The last time I reported that Korey Rochon was running an
online comic-con, but each time people would ask the creator of this event a
question he would get very defensive and he would block them. I reported about
this earlier here: THE CORE SCAM
Well recently there has been a rash of people expressing
their discontent with Korey, about previous so called “huge ideas” he had.
Korey Rochon or is it Michael Stevenson? Do we know? |
For instance he was once a publisher to a comic company
called Ascendant Comics, and people have come out claiming he has stolen other people’s
properties. Furthermore there has been a questionable contract brought forth
from a previous person who was approached by Korey’s group.
Finally I have read through dozen of screenshots sent in by
other creators who had conversations with Korey. As I read over the screenshots
people were asking Korey who was asking for a 100 dollars from ten creators to
gain a thousand dollars to form a new publishing company to rival Marvel and DC
comics.
See the moment I read he was asking for other creators to contribute
a $100 dollars to form this company it screamed SCAM! Another thing that came
to me was Korey Rochon insane and he thought that these other creators he was
proposing this insane idea too were that gullible to throw money away at a crapshoot
that makes no sense.
Finally most people know that a thousand dollars isn’t going
to put a dent into Marvel and DC’s market share. Look to print a thousand
comics, it will cost a person roughly $1,300 to $3,000 dollars depending where
you go to get your comic printed. You aren’t even going break event when it is
done being printed and I don’t believe Korey is that stupid to believe that a
thousand dollars is going to rival the big two.
That proposal he threw out to these creators screamed rip-off
and he knew it, which is why when people questioned him about his wishy-washy
tactics he got very defensive, he called these people clowns. Yes he called
potential investors clowns, he spoke down to them, and he would block these
creators.
Finally when he reached out to me he started to use an alias
called Michael Stevenson, then he blocked or he deactivate that account so I
was unable to talk with him. Also, when he did email me he wanted to call me
because he didn’t want to do it over email he wanted to call me. I know a few
other creators have recently spoken with him over the phone and he got very
defensive with them in the process.
So my only suggestion to most people, beware of Korey Rochon/Michael
Stevenson.
